Just plain horrible

I am still so upset I don't kow where to begin. All I can tell you is DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY !They didn't deliver as promised, when they did it was 15 days after the date promised..by 55' tv was broken (after I paid ridiculous fees for them to use their packing material to "prevent this ").They never answer their phones to speak with you .I have been calling for three weeks now and no one ever answers or returns the calls and I left numerous messages .I will be contacting the BBB ABOUT THEM...they were contracted through ALLY VAN LINES (not to be confused with the very reputable Allied Van Lines ;which is who I thought they were when they initially called ) SO RUN IF YOU SEE THEM TOO! They lowball you on the price ,promise that they will be the ones delivering your stuff then avoid you like the plague to resolve your concerns .

Terrible experience. Please avoid this company.

I hired R&L Moving Systems, based in Houston, for my move from AR to WI. Honestly, it was one of the worst decisions I made. They were the cheapest service. The driver, Mandu, showed up three hours late on pick-up day, and after loading the truck, he claimed that I had an extra 140 cu. ft. of stuff and that I had to pay an extra $440. My inventory was exactly what was on my moving estimate, and I took pictures of my stuff in the back of the truck to document that I was not taking up more space than on my estimate. It took an entire week of phone calls to the manager, Ray Oren, to get the extra charges removed. Ray was always conveniently away from his desk when I called, and he never returned messages. On the day of expected delivery, I called R&L and was told it would be at least a week before I got my stuff. I had to spend hundreds of dollars on a hotel room, and I was furious. When I finally got my belongings 12 days late, several items were bent or scratched, so now I am hassling with them over my damage claims. I highly recommend avoiding this company and going with a much more reliable and reputable service. Look at the Better Business Bureau and www.protectyourmove.gov.

Unprofessional (cursed at me), drove off, you name it!

I am still in shock over the behavior of the owner and drivers of this company! They were a day late, hiked up the quote by approx. $2,000 upon moving day, disappeared for 4 days without any contact and did not return my calls. On delivery day, the driver insisted he be paid in 'cash' before they would begin to unload. I told him that was un-acceptable until I verified the things in the truck were mine and not damaged. I had even 'wired' funds for the reamining balance that morning but he said it could only be 'cash'. The driver got angry over this and actually got back in the moving truck (which was different from the trucks they loaded my things in) and took off and told me "you are a snake and I am going to just go drop your stuff off in some lot somewhere" Unbelievable! I ended up having to call the police to stay there with me. The police stayed. So so so many things were destroyed. Two dresses were split, drawers won't open, the conpany did not save any screws so nothing could be put together (kitchen table, mirrors for dressers, vanity set, stools, etc. I will add that the actual 'movers' were nice and helpful, but the owner yelled at me (Ray somebody) and so did the driver. The IRS should be suspicious of this company which only would accept cash on the spot and refused a wire (which is the same as cash) or credit card. Crazy bad experience!

This company moved my fiance's things from Austin, TX to Tucson, Az. He paid them.

My complaint is the outrageously unprofessional behavior of the driver. I was trying to be pleasant and then he just went off and started yelling at me and getting in my face and lecturing me about a host of things(political stuff of all things) that had nothing to do with the unloading. I walked away and as it was 7pm I went in my house to call the sheriff's office. I wanted them off my property ASAP.

Before I could complete the call they finished. I signed for the stuff and slammed and locked the gate after them. I was scared and shaking. I asked for the information on rhe owner.

The driver asked why. I told him I would get it myself and pursue further action. I dont even know if the items are okay. I am still shaking.

I have never been treated this way.

I didnt know these people. I would NEVER DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY EVER EVER EVER.

R&L Moving Systems are a scam

Anyone who has had a negative experience with this company should call the Houston FBI and complain. This company tried to steal our belongings. I reported them to the Houston FBI who are investigating them. They made the driver drive his truck to our place (he was playing some bizarre game where he called me every hour and said he'd arrive in 20 minutes, subsequently costing me a fortune as I had to hire police traffic detail and people to unpack to the tune of $200 an hour). The driver showed up and refused to unload my things until I paid him another $2000 in cash. We had already paid $1800 and the original quote was $1300. The police were present for traffic, I called the FBI again, they called our local police chief and it turned out the driver had a warrant out for his arrest and was driving without a license. (He had driven a 65 foot semi from Houston to Boston). The driver was arrested. And still the company called the police and screamed at them that we couldn't have our things until we paid them. Most of our things were broken, smashed and destroyed. They had thrown toasters on top of laptops on top of velvet boxes of baby clothes on top of glass photo frames. There were even things in the boxes that didn't belong to us which mean they opened them on the way. There was even trash from what the packers ate and lot's of brand new heavy packing material (tape, paper, etc.) They were 3 weeks late causing us to have to rent a hotel room for $200 a night so the kids could start school. This has been a horrible experience and I hope it never happens to anyone else which is why I reported them to the Houston FBI, Houston police, my local police, their webmaster, and I'm currently writing newspapers--this can't keep happening to people!

Can you respond with your phone number or email? I'm having similar issues and need direction or maybe just an additional voice. I'm thinking of hiring an attorney to go after these guys.

Stay away from R&L Moving System

I had a contract with R & L moving systems to move my things from Missouri to New Jersey. The sales guy (Dan Wood)guaranteed my cost at $1,000 and 3-5 days delivery. I made a 20% down payment to start with. The driver was over 10 hours late to pick up and all he did was called all night complaining and arguing with me. Driver decided I wasn't getting charged enough and he bumped up my cost by 32% ($320). I gave them 6 days before I started calling for my things, but all they did was avoided my calls, hung up on me while claiming bad signal or saying they trying to transfer me to another department. My 3-5 days delivery was changed to 7-21 days (one week to a month) by the dispatch department. I was sleeping on the floor in my new apartment and buying things I already own. I went to my new job that week in casual clothes clearly standing out from the group. Dan wouldnt pick up my calls any longer. I received two calls within a span of 5 mins on a thursday, one from the driver who said he is coming on Saturday to deliver my things. The second call was Dan (Sales guy) claiming my things are coming that very hour he was talking to me. I called him out and asked why he is lying when I just spoke to the driver. He said my cost has gone up, I asked my when he already guaranteed my cost at $1,000. He said he heard I had more stuff, but had no prove when I asked him to tell me what extra things I added. He said he will call the driver and call me back, but that was the last time I heard from Dan. The appointment was 3pm with the driver but he didnt show up till 7pm. He wanted $1,120 before he could open the track and off load. I asked him I need to check my inventory and the contract said I pay "upon delivery" he drove off with my things and I am yet to hear from R & L. I went online and saw so many complains with this very company. How does this kind of business operate? they are shady, they are rude, they are thugs, they lie, breach all parts of the contract, they deceptive. I could give going. All the people around me were frustrated just seeing the way this drivers were acting. I almost called the cops. Please Please "DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY" someone needs to tweet, create a facebook page, create a link or something to put these crooks out of business. I prefer getting robbed by a self proclaimed robber than this guys, because I at least had that expectation from a robber.

I have to say that I by default I had to have them because of another *** company (Budget Van lines) Since Budget van lines brokers the move they had R&L moving systems pick up and deliver my stuff. ALL my dish sets (4) arrived broken my 55 inch flat screen TV the movers (VERY rude, " his name was Surgay") rolled the box it came in down to the door. When I had told them that they were NOT supposed to do that one of them said, "Oh its a TV" Really? my thoughts, "no MF*er it just has a big picture of a TV on it". All my clothes came unfolded and in a disarray-hanging out of the boxes I packed them in. All my boxes appeared to have been thrown down a hill, and they lost some of my boxes and a painting ladder, which both drivers have NO idea what happened to them. When the mover brought in a step ladder I stated immediately "that's not mine" his response, "well its yours now". My two brand new metal filing cabinets arrived severely damaged, dents, scratches and a deep indent. When I had complained the mover goes onto his phone and proceeds to argue with me that the price I staed what I paid for the file cabinets was false-no ***! he was looking at another store and it was not the same four drawers. Shouldn't he have spend more time moving my stuff rather than argue with me?

Poor customer service no follow up. They were supposed to provide the weight of my belongings which they have yet to and its been well over three weeks.

Now I have to go to some shoddy claim center to get the cost of the items that they lost!

I hate them, wish I never had to use them and would tell anyone that wants their personal belongings handled with care and the level of professionalism that they profess on their site-"Back away and run-They SUCK"

Yet another saga of unprofessional conduct - R&L movers

First things first - these guys are the most unprofessional movers I have ever dealt with. 1st - Pick up at last day of the time window at the last minute, that too the driver shows attitude and drives away coz' i got tired of waiting on him and went to return my other rental truck. Eventually shows up in the evening, guesstimates that the weight is over by 200 pounds. Driver does not give the proof of weight after loading my stuff. 2nd.- At the day of delivery, the driver, customer service and owner all try to charge me extra for 200 pounds without giving me any proof. Eventually, they back off after I insist for a weight ticket. 3rd - Leave me some one else's box full of important documents (leases etc) while misplace my box somewhere. I call everyday to track my lost box and they tell me they are not able to get in touch with the driver, the computer is down yada yada yada. This has been going on for last 3 weeks. I will pursue this cheats to the desired conclusion, come what it takes. All this while waiting on my missing box....

R & L Moving System just engaged in a bizarre scheme to steal our things. I called the FBI in Houston who forced the driver to drive the truck to our home.

The driver was arrested for a warrant and no license.

The Houston FBI is filing a complaint against them in my behalf. Anyone who has been negatively impacted by this moving company should call the Houston FBI and police to file a complaint on record.

R&L moving systems, inc insurance defrauders

I had previously filed a rip off report about the same movers. Then they responded immediately and I thought that they have got better with their response. But they had broken my futon and multiple other articles. I had sent the list with picture proof to the insurance mediators who sent in settlement amount which I had accepted in October, but it is April now and I have not yet received the money. The only response for my multiple contact with them that the check is in the mail. I hope they can mend their ways and send the check soon.

Worst movers in the history of moving

I had moved multiple times before but this by far is the worst move that I have had. I had diligently done my research before this move to specifically avoid such a mishap. I had gone through the Better business bureau ratings and found R&L movers who had a A- rating for my move from St.Louis to Philadelphia. The process of setting up the move and the pickup was performed professionally. The promised date of delivery was 1 week after the pickup. But there was no communication from Ray about the expected date of delivery, and multiple emails to him about the same were never replied. When I called his office the only thing they would tell me was that the delivery was being scheduled and they did not have a date. After going through this was for about a 1-1.5 weeks when I had to repurchase multiple things that I already owned as they were not yet delivered by Ray, I get a delivery date which was 18 days after the pickup. Ray had then promised me a "big discount" on the move price because the delivery was late. The driver of the truck a Mr. Sergey was the worst mover that I have ever encountered. He picked up a fight with me when I had asked him to either not use the moving dolly on the carpet in the house or lay down a plastic sheet on the carpet when using the dolly on the carpet so that the dirt from the street is not smeared into the carpet. He flatly refused my request and went on to verbally and physically abuse me and me pregnant wife. He also threw a box full of my stuff on the road and all my clothes and valuables were strewn on the road. I was so threatened by his outburst that I had to resort to call 911 and have the police come over to manage the situation. He calmed down only after the police were on the scene. Then he continued to smear all the dirt from the road into my carpet. This was when I was frantically trying to get hold of ray to talk to his men but Ray was conveniently absent. He contacted me the next day and told me that he would reimburse me $250 for the "Big discount" that he had promised and the issues that I had with the driver. Now it has been over a month since he had promised me this reimbursement and every time I contact him about it he spins me another story about how it is in the mail and how he is going to mail it the next day. I would not advise anyone to fall for his sugar coated words and pay to be abused by his moving crew. The worst mistake in my life.

BEWARE OF THIS MOVING COMPANY!!!!

I am really pissed of this Moving Company (R & L Moving System Inc.) based in Texas..for the following reasons; 1) By overpricing from $950(which we agreed)to almost $1600 with a minimum of 2000 lbs. limit. 2. They are not answering their phones but only voice mail once they receive their payments once you have a complaints. 3) They have rude and very unproffesional trucks drivers and helpers. 4) They will not take care of your stuffs. They delivered my personal stuffs with broken glass and damaged items like my washer and dryer and some of my Electronics stuffs.

DO NOT USE R & L MOVING!!!!

I moved from New Orleans to Massachusetts. Their quote was accurate but half of my things arrived broken and the other half didn't arrive at all. Then, when I thought it could get no worse, the *** delivery team got their truck stuck in my driveway and caused $800 of damage trying to get the truck out. The "claims department" will reimburse the lost items (at 0.16$ per pound) but who is going to fix the driveway??? NEVER use this company! EVER!!!!!

Walter O Era

I wish I had read this before I made this deal. Now everything I have worked for is in their possession and they refuse to deliver. Crooks indeed :(

Walter O Era

The is the worst mistake I ever made. They provided the worst services I have ever paid for.

They have all my things still and refuse to unload my inventory. They are day light thieves in disguise.

Please do not fall for their sales promises, because not only wouldnt they meet any of it, but they will make you miserable in the process. This is as bad as gun point robbery.

Agreed! Here was my nightmare experience with these crooks.

I booked a move with R&L back in March from San Antonio, TX to Charleston, SC. I spoke with a gentleman by the name of Isaac who at the time seemed very friendly and worked as hard as he could to make me the best offer he could. My quote was $1,079 which I thought was as good as I could get, being that this is the first time I had moved long distance and knew nothing about the moving business. I recieved a better quote from American Van Lines of $999.99, I called Isaac to cancel the move because of this. He said he would speak to his manager and see if he could beat that which he did with $983.00. With this price, I kept R&L. Ever heard the old saying if it sounds to good to be true 9 times out of 10 it probably is? Well that old saying never held any more true. My original move was scheduled for May 6, but due to circumstances I had to move my date back. Wendy gave me a new date of May 30 (Memorial Day). I reminded her of the holiday, and she assured me that my goods would be picked up on Memorial Day, because "R&L always runs their trucks, to provide the best service possible." These are her words have you. A week prior to the move I contacted R&L once again and spoke with Wendy, she reassured me once again that the movers would arrive at my apartment on May 30 between 8-12 in the morning. She asked I resend my credit card authorization form for my $210 down payment because they had yet to receive it (I sent it four times), and they would see me on the 30th! Monday May 30, 2011 rolls around, and the nightmare begins. I called Wendy at 10 a.m. to verify the movers were coming on Memorial Day, she stated "a truck is on it's way to your place right now." 2 p.m. rolls around, I'm still setting in my apartment looking at the walls. I call Wendy who says this time, "I can't get in contact with the driver, if he is not there in an hour call me back." An hour passes I call Wendy again, she states "I still havn't heard from the driver, but they have to report in to be at 4 if you would like to call back around 4:15. 4:15 arrives, I call, to no answer. I finally get through at 4:37 and Diana answers, she stated that the truck had been broken down for two days, and they would be by in the morning. I told her what Wendy had told me, and she said Wendy had left at 4 and if I wanted to speak to a manager I could call in the morning. May 31 rolls around, I was told this would be the day the movers come over, and I have to be out of my apartment by 4:30 in order to not have to pay extra. I call R&L and get Al Green (not the singer). I tell him what happened yesterday, and his response is "I'm not suprised, Wendy is an *** who doesn't know how to do anything but answer phones and tell you what you want to hear." He then tells me that nobody gets to the office until 10 and he will ensure that my apartment is the first place they hit once they get in. He also tells me if I have any other issues to contact the owner Ray Oren when he comes in at 10. I called Ray Oren at 10, and might I say the nightmare got worse. I told him what happened yesterday and explained to him that I needed to be out of my apartment today. He responded "I am a very busy man, if you don't want us to move you I will cancel." I explained to him, it was too late for me to hire another company, therefore I had to keep R&L, I also explained to him Wendy's actions the day before. He told me Wendy was a great employee and that I was a liar. He said he would give me a $50 discount if that would make me happy, I took it and the final price was now down to $933 (keep that in mind). I asked him how much I owed the movers when they showed up, he said $233. 11 o'clock rolls around, still no movers. I contact Al Green again he states that the movers should be on their way but he would call them. He calls me back and says it may be a little later, because there was a pay dispute between the company and the movers. I get a call at 12 from a gentleman who said he was the foreman for my move and they would be over around 3 o'clock after they finished up with the move they were almost finished with. Remember when Al Green told me I would be the first move of the day? Or how the drivers were in a pay dispute and hadn't started yet less than an hour ago? I guess they work fast, huh? Well 3 rolls around, no movers I call Al again, he says he don't know what their problem is, and he wanted to get out of the office as soon as possible to watch the basketball game that night. He said he would call them and then give me a call back. He calls back, he said he had good news and bad news, the good news was they would be by, the bad news being it would not be until 8 o'clock. With no other choice I had to wait. He explained to me that I may wait, but he garunteed that I would be satisfied with the service. At 3:45 a truck pulls up. The moving crew that showed up was friendly, and they started packing my stuff. They loaded my boxspring and two dressers onto the truck while the foreman went over the quote with me. He said I owen them $775 dollars today and my total move would be around $2,200. This is a high jump from $933. I told them I could not afford that price. He called somebody on his cell, told his crew to job was off, they unloaded my stuff and went on their way. I called Al Green back and told him what happened and asked if I could get a refund. He said R&L had a 72 hour cancellation policy, but he would see what he could do. He told me that I was not the only person to ever be mad at R&L, that he had been cursed out by church going people, even a television evangelist (I swear I'm not making this up). I never heard back from him, so I called Ray Oren the next day. Ray said that yesterday was his mistake, and that he had another truck coming through on Thursday. I explained to him the price jump, he said that it could be due to having more items than what I listed to Isaac, I told him that was not the case, he said "I don't know then, if you don't want to use my company, then don't use us." I told him that was fine and asked him for a refund. He responded "I will give you your refund, and you can go *** yourself *** He then proceeded to hang the phone up in my face. I called him back, and ask that he send me an e-mail saying that he was giving me the refund so there would be no confusion. He said that there would be no confusion and I would get my refund. I did get a refund after about a week however, I did end up paying an extra $100 rent and I had to pay double for professional cleaners, being that I was not able to cancel on them in a decent timeframe. I later found out that due to them actually loading some of my items on the truck, they had violated Department of Transportation procedures. I did file a formal complaint with the DOT the day after. I contacted a representative from U-Haul and he said any reputable company would not charge less than $2,000 for the distance of my move, which through research I later found out to be true. I ended up renting a truck from Budget and doing the move myself.

In the end R&L is a very unprofessional, very crooked company. If you want your movers to show up late and double the price on you book these guys, if not give your business to a reputable company. R&L does not need to be in business, scaming innocent people the way I got left handed by them. Go to other review pages, even their facebook page and read what others have said about the crook Ray Oren and his crooked company. But to quote Al Green, Ray Oren "is a crook with good credit, and a bunch of vans." Looks like your unprofessional employees may put you out of business before your crooked practices do Ray!
